Terms of Service
Effective: 2026-05-23. Last updated: 2026-05-23.
These Terms govern your use of Math to Machine (the "Platform"), operated by Math to Machine (the "Company"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Platform.
If you're under 18, a parent or legal guardian must have read and accepted these Terms on your behalf during signup.
1. Who can use the Platform
- You must be at least 9 years old to use the Platform.
- If you're under 16, you can only create an account with verifiable parent consent (we capture this during signup).
- If you're between 16 and 18, you can sign up yourself, but you confirm that a parent or guardian is aware of your use.
- You must be a resident of India. The Platform is offered only in India during this launch.
- One person, one account. Don't share login credentials.
2. Your account
- Sign-in is passwordless. We send an OTP (one-time password) to your registered phone or a magic link to your email. Don't share these with anyone — they can be used to log in as you.
- You must give accurate, current information when you sign up (real name optional; real age band required).
- You're responsible for activity on your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact support@{DOMAIN} immediately.
3. What's free, what's paid
Free Learner (no payment required):
- The first 5 lessons (Phase 1 W1-W5).
- 5 AI tutor messages per day.
- No peer-cohort creation or joining.
- No public portfolio publishing.
Student Premium (paid):
- ₹399 per month OR ₹2,000 per year (a significant commitment discount).
- All lessons unlocked, all phases, all tracks.
- 100 AI tutor messages per day.
- Peer cohorts, portfolio publishing, advanced labs.
Prices are inclusive of applicable GST. Pricing may change for new subscriptions; current subscribers keep the price they signed up at for the rest of their current billing period.
4. Payments
- We process payments via Razorpay. By paying, you also agree to Razorpay's terms (razorpay.com/terms).
- Subscriptions are one-time payments for the period chosen (monthly or yearly). We do not auto-renew during this launch. You'll need to renew manually when your period ends. (This may change in a later version — we'll tell you before it does.)
- Invoices are issued in INR and include applicable tax.
- See our Refund Policy for cancellation and refund rules.
5. What you can do
- Learn: follow the curriculum, do the activities, take the boss checks.
- Use the AI tutor: ask questions about the lesson you're on.
- Build projects: solo, then publish if you have a Premium subscription.
- Join peer cohorts (Premium): see anonymous progress comparison with friends you invite.
- Talk to your assigned teacher or mentor, where one exists.
6. What you can't do
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Platform for anything illegal under Indian law.
- Use the AI tutor to generate content that's hateful, sexual, violent, harassing, or that helps you cheat on a school exam.
- Try to bypass the rung-policy (the AI tutor's hint system is gated for pedagogical reasons; prompt-injection attempts to extract full answers are an abuse of the service).
- Scrape, mirror, or republish our content. Curriculum text and lesson materials are protected.
- Share your account, sell access, or run scripts that simulate a learner.
- Reverse-engineer the Platform, attempt to access another user's account, or exploit security vulnerabilities. (If you find one, please email security@{DOMAIN} — we appreciate responsible disclosure.)
- Use the Platform to spam, phish, or otherwise abuse other users.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
7. Content you submit
When you submit projects, written explanations, tutor messages, or other content ("Your Content"):
- You own Your Content. We don't claim any ownership of it.
- You grant us a license to store it, display it back to you, send it to the AI tutor model, and (if you choose to publish a project) display it on your public profile.
- You're responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit it (no plagiarism, no copyrighted material you don't own).
- We may anonymise + aggregate Your Content to improve our pedagogy (e.g. "what's the most common wrong answer for this MCQ?"). We never share Your Content with other learners as-is.
8. Our content
The curriculum, lesson stages, worked examples, AI tutor system prompts, code components, and design — all of it is owned by Math to Machine or our licensors. You can use it personally for learning. You can't copy, redistribute, or use it to train your own ML models without our written permission.
9. AI tutor — important caveats
- The AI tutor uses large language models (Claude, made by Anthropic). It can be wrong, especially on edge cases or recent events.
- The tutor is a learning aid, not a substitute for verified information. For factual or medical or legal questions outside the curriculum, please use other sources.
- The tutor is prompted to refuse off-topic requests and to redirect to learning. We don't guarantee perfect refusal — if you see misuse, please report it.
10. Service availability
- We aim for 99% uptime but don't guarantee it. Maintenance windows happen.
- We may change features, add or remove labs, update content, change pricing for new subscribers. We'll tell you about material changes ahead of time.
- We may suspend service for a particular user if we suspect abuse, fraud, or security risk.
11. Termination
- You can close your account anytime through the in-app settings or by emailing support@{DOMAIN}. We delete or anonymise your data within 30 days (see Privacy Policy §5).
- We can close your account if you breach these Terms, or if your account has been inactive for 24+ months and you haven't responded to our reach-out.
- Refund on termination by us for non-breach reasons: pro-rata refund of any unused paid period.
- Refund on termination for breach: no refund.
12. Liability
Indian law allows us to limit our liability in commercial contracts; for this consumer Platform, we limit our total liability to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or ₹10,000, whichever is higher.
We are NOT liable for:
- Indirect or consequential damages (lost opportunities, lost data outside our backups, missed school deadlines, etc.).
- Outages caused by third-party providers (Razorpay, Anthropic, hosting providers).
- Content that the AI tutor generates — you must independently verify factual claims before relying on them, especially for academic submissions.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot legally be limited under Indian law (e.g., for gross negligence or wilful misconduct).
13. Disputes and governing law
- These Terms are governed by Indian law, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
- For any dispute, please first email support@{DOMAIN} so we can try to resolve it directly. We respond within 7 working days.
- If we can't resolve it, disputes go to the competent courts of {JURISDICTION_CITY}, India (the city where the Company is registered).
- For privacy-specific complaints, see our Privacy Policy §9 (Grievance Officer) and your right to escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, email you in advance and (where law requires it) ask you to accept them again.
